Dear Members,
Welcome to the Summer edition of your City Tatts Magazine. I hope the festive season is everything you want it to be.
It has been a wonderful time in the Club, with further improvements around the Club house including the Reception and Silks Gaming makeovers, and the introduction of exciting new games. Since the Spring Issue, we have completed the new Library outside our Lower Bar, and the space is popular with Members and Guests alike. In addition, our Esperanto Dining Room has introduced a new Summer Menu and received a well- deserved facelift, with the new carpet adding to the charm and ambiance.
The Fitness Centres have also received attention. The Club is in good shape as 2017 draws to a close.
The offerings in our food and beverage outlets are of great quality and value and I encourage you to come in and try them for yourself.
In October, many of our Members got to experience the excitement of our annual City Tattersalls Race Day at Royal Randwick, as we continued our Club’s strong connection with horseracing. The event was attended by an exceptionally large number of Members, with the exclusive luncheon proving a big hit. You can read more about that fantastic day in the calendar on Pages 6 & 7 of this magazine. That day was shortly followed by a sensational Melbourne Cup Day in the Club house, with laughter and vivid colour at every turn. For the many of you who commented that these were the best City Tatts Race Day and Melbourne Cup Day ever… I can only say to you…wait until you see next year!
In the previous issue of this magazine, I advised that we were in discussions with TABCORP, and of the possibility of housing a TAB agency in the balance of the ground floor of our 196 Pitt Street building after the relocation of gaming machines to the Silks area. I can confirm that this initiative is proceeding, while in the interim period, we have launched 196 Pop-Up, a circa-60-day temporary bar in the currently vacant space pending the commencement of the TAB fit out.
This exciting, and experimental, pop-up opened on 1st December, and will trade from Tuesday to Friday over the bulk of the summer season. I encourage you to ‘pop’ in and experience it for yourself.
I also have some exciting news to share on our work in the Community space. In 2018, our Club will be sponsoring the Max Potential organisation through ClubGRANTS to launch and host the City Tattersalls Max Potential Program. This well-structured and excellent program is designed to empower young people from local schools through community-based leadership coaching. If you would like to find out more – or to put your hand up to get involved, please take the time to read the article on Page 13, where you can find further information.
In addition, our Club has become a major sponsor of founding partner ClubsNSW supporting the fourth Invictus Games, which will be held in Sydney between the 20th and 27th October 2018. This competition promotes the importance of sport and physical activity for wounded, injured and ill service members and veterans. The competition will attract more than 500 male and female competitors from 18 nations to compete in 11 adaptive sports across Greater Sydney, including Archery, Powerlifting and Wheelchair Rugby. Whilst being a vital step in the rehabilitation journey of the athletes, the Invictus Games also play an important role in acknowledging and thanking the families and friends of those who have been wounded in conflicts.
City Tatts is proud to be playing such an integral role in supporting this iconic event as it comes to the Harbour City. On a final note, with Christmas fast approaching, I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you,
our Members, our business partners, neighbours and our staff and contractors (including Matt and Luanne who manage our Ski Lodge in Boonoona) for your efforts throughout the year.
