Yes, once there has been enough snowfall to create a base of at least 20cm, guests can ski from the front door of Boonoona down to the Mount Perisher Triple and Double Chairs on the left and Quad Express and Village 8 Express to the right. If you are a first-time skier, transport to Front Valley can be arranged.
Boonoona Ski Lodge is located at Perisher, within Kosciuszko National Park. It’s a touch under 500km south-west of Sydney, 550km north-east of Melbourne, and 200km south-west of Canberra. The best way to get here is to drive to Bullocks Flat, about 20 minutes from Jindabyne, park your car and catch the Skitube into Perisher. The train-like service comes often and only takes ten minutes. One of our hosts will pick you and your luggage up from the Skitube Terminal at Perisher and take you straight to Boonoona. The Skitube ticket you need is the Overnight Return. It can be booked in advance
here.
There is no space for private vehicles at Boonoona, and overnight parking is not permitted in Perisher Valley, so you will need to leave your car in the free, overnight parking at Bullocks Flat. The area is patrolled by security, there is no limit to how long you can park there, and because it’s almost always lower than the snowfall line you don’t need to carry snow chains like you do when you venture further into the national park. You also don’t have to pay the National Park entry fee as it’s included in your Skitube ticket.
It’s important to note the Bullocks Flat Skitube Terminal is on Alpine Way, which is the road to Thredbo, not Perisher. This can catch people out so make sure you’re on the right road.
No. Do not drive directly to Boonoona. There is nowhere to park on site. If you do attempt to drive to Boonoona you will be sent back to the Skitube to park your vehicle.
